The Miss World 2009 pageant took place at Johannesburg tonight and the surprise winner was none other than Miss Gibraltar Kaiane Aldorino.

Pooja was Navy Queen 2007 1st Runner Up, NDA Queen 2004 1st Runner Up and has also made a cameo appearance in the film Fashion.

She has walked the ramp for brands like Gitanjali, D’Damas and even for renowned designers like Manish Malhotra, Vikram Phadnis, Wendell Rodericks, Mihika Mirpuri, and Roberto Cavalli.

For Miss World 2009, Pooja Chopra has taken along a lot of saris and western outfits designed by Ritu Kumar.

Pooja, 22, stands tall at 5’8” and has done commercials for Mr Muscle, Big 97 FM, Dabur Honey and Coke, among others.

During Miss India, she also won Miss Perfect 10; Miss Catwalk and Nakshatra Miss Sparkling Beauty. Pooja Chopra was crowned Miss India-World on April 5th, 2009.

On winning Miss India, she said, “I had to pinch myself to make sure it was real and I wasn’t dreaming. In fact, when I was getting crowned, I was actually losing balance. I couldn’t hold myself. I was elated.”

Priyanka Chopra for Miss World 2009 As a judge

Here she is adding another feather to her cap, Priyanka Chopra, a former Miss World will be sitting amongst the many international celebrities on December 12th as she judges the beautiful contestants for the Miss World pageant in Johannesburg.

PC will be the judge for the final round. Expressing her joy, she was quoted as saying, “When Julia Morley, who is in charge of the beauty pageant, invited me to be a judge, I was ecstatic. There I was a teenager all those years ago, nervous as a help on the same platform. Now I’m going in a totally different capacity.”

In fact, she has changed her hairstyle and is sporting a bob cut; she was spotted on Wednesday night in a chic new avatar with her new haircut at the Dance Premier League TV show.
