Salman Khan's much awaited film Veer is now all set to hit the theatres. The film is slated for a January 22, 2010 release.

Veer is a grandiose period saga. The story of Veer is set in 1875. It was the period post the Revolt of 1857 when the British had established their control over most of India. But there was one clan that refused to budge under the might of the British Empire, the Pindari warriors.

Salman plays the title role of Veer, the warrior prince. The film is directed by Anil Sharma. Anil was not able to recreate the success of Gadar - Ek Prem Katha with his subsequent releases.

With Veer Anil hopes to better even Gadar. The film also stars Mithun Chakraborty. Mithun, the superstar of the 1980s, is now making his mark again in character roles.

Making their Bollywood debut with Veer are Zarine Khan and two foreign actresses, Lisa Lazarus and Gita Soto. Veer has been shot in Rajasthan and in the UK.

The film's starcast also includes Sohail Khan, Jackie Shroff, Neena Gupta and Aryan Vaid. The music has been composed by Sajid-Wajid.

Veer is also a love story, that goes beyond the borders. Veer is inspired from Taras Bulba, a 1962 film loosely based on Nikolai Gogol's short novel by the same name. Veer has been scripted by Salman Khan himself.

Veer's release date is clashing with Ram Gopal Varma's Rann, starring Amitabh Bachchan and Vishal Bhardwaj-produced Ishqiya.

Priyanka Chopra kills her 'husbands'

She is selecting her films after a lot of consideration; Priyanka Chopra won’t make wrong moves. She is all set to play the wife of seven husbands in Vishal Bharadwaj’s next film.

As a tabloid reported, in the film Priyanka plays an Anglo-Indian woman who has seven husbands and eventually kills them all. The film is based on a short story by Ruskin Bond. “It’s Priyanka’s toughest role to date. Her character is extremely volatile. It will be an out-and-out thriller,” a source is quoted to have said.

In fact, Vishal who is repeating PC for the second film wants her to look simple, like the way she did in Kaminey. The movie is going to be Vishal’s first woman-centric film and no doubt he has given Priyanka a film that many actresses would love to grab without thinking twice.

Celebrated writer Ruskin Bond along with Vishal is writing the screenplay for the film. And as revealed by the tabloid, according to the movie’s yet-not-finalized script, PC will come up with ingenious ways of killing her seven husbands and “an overdose of viagra will bump one of her old husbands off.”

The film goes on the floors next year. Well, the tit-bits sound interesting; can’t wait for the full show!

Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, Sameera Reddy promote De Dana Dan

The cast of soon-to-release comic film De Dana Dan starring Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, Sameera Reddy were seen promoing their film.

The film, which is said to be the third in the hit Hera Pheri series, has certainly raised the expectation bar.

This time again one gets to see the hit trio of Akki, Paresh and Suniel back on screen but their lady loves have changed from Rimi and Bipasha to Sameera and Katrina respectively.

Priyadarshan is confident that De Dana Dan will draw crowds to theatres. The director says: "De Dana Dan is one of the most interesting movies that I have made. It is a good exercise for the heart in the way it has been scripted. You can't miss a single moment. If you sneeze, you would miss a shot and you would have to watch the film all over again." Some of his hit movies include Bhool Bhulaiyya (2007), Bhagam Bhag (2006) and Garam Masala (2005).
